AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Eurocopter EC 135 Series Helicopters
AD/EC 135/11 Emergency Flotation System 2/2006
Applicability: Model EC 135 helicopters, equipped with removable and/or fixed part of emergency flotation system version I.
Requirement: Remove the removable part of emergency flotation system version I, and install removable parts of emergency flotation system version II. Install all components relevant for the emergency flotation system version II. Accomplish the above actions in accordance with Eurocopter Deutschland EC 135 Alert Service Bulletin No. EC135-32A-010 dated 13 September 2004.

Compliance: Within 4 weeks after 16 February 2006, unless already accomplished.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 16 February 2006.
Background: It has been determined that the removable part of the ECD emergency flotation system version I no longer meets its requirements because of an increase in admissible maximum take-off weight of the Model EC 135 helicopters.
