Proclamation - Special Public & Bank Holidays 2019 Territory of Christmas Island I, Natasha Griggs, Administrator of the Territory of Christmas Island, under the powers delegated to me under Section 7 of the Public and Bank Holidays Act 1972 (WA)(CI), appoint the following days to be special Public and Bank Holidays in the Territory of Christmas Island: Chinese New Year (Day 1) Tuesday, 05 February 2019 Chinese New Year (Day 2) Wednesday, 06 February 2019 Labour Day Monday, 18 March 2019 Hari Raya Puasa Wednesday, 05 June 2019* Hari Raya Haji Monday, 12 August 2019* (in lieu of Sunday, 11 August 2019) *Dates subject to change: the Islamic calendar is based on lunar observation. Although it is possible to estimate with a reasonable degree of accuracy the lunar calendar in advance, the dates will be subject to the sighting of the new moon.
