DECLARATION OF AN APPROVED WILDLIFE TRADE MANAGEMENT PLAN - MANAGEMENT OF COMMERCIAL HARVESTING OF FLORA IN WESTERN AUSTRALIA 2023-2028
I, Belinda Jago, Branch Head, Oceans and Wildlife Branch, as Delegate of the Minister for the Environment and Water declare under subsection 303FO(2) of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999, that the Management of Commercial Harvesting of Flora in Western Australia 2023-2028 plan, prepared by the Western Australian Department of Biodiversity, Conservations and Attractions, is an approved Wildlife Trade Management Plan for the purposes of section 303FO of the EPBC Act.
Unless amended or revoked, this declaration has effect subject to the following conditions applied under section S303FT:
1. The commercial harvest for export of endemic and non-endemic flora in Western Australia must be undertaken in accordance with the Wildlife Trade Management Plan for the Management of Commercial Harvesting of Flora in Western Australia 2023 –2028.
Flora species authorised for commercial harvest are contained in the Export Flora List (Appendix A).
2. The Western Australian Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions must have written approval from the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water to add species to the Export Flora List.
3. The Western Australian Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions must supply an updated Export Flora List to the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water within 48 hours of a species addition or removal.
4. This declaration is valid for five years from the date after its registration on the Federal Register of Legislation.
5. The Western Australian Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions must submit an annual report to the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water by 1 May each year, covering the harvest of endemic Western Australian flora in the previous year.
