The Parliament of Queensland enacts—
Short title
1. This Act may be cited as the Police Powers and Responsibilities Amendment Act 1998.
Act amended 2. This Act amends the Police Powers and Responsibilities Act 1997.
Amendment of s 35 (Arrest without warrant) 3. Section 35— insert—
'(4) Despite subsection (3), but subject to the Juvenile Justice Act 1992, section 20,! a police officer may—
(a) arrest a child under a provision of another Act authorising the arrest of a person without warrant; or
(b) ifthe police officer reasonably suspects a child has committed or is committing an offence against section 120 or the Traffic Act 1949—arrest the child, without warrant.'.
